Ingredients

- 1 pound (450g) ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon dried basil
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 9 lasagna noodles (gluten-free if needed)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Recipe

1. Preheat your wood-fired oven to around 375°F (190°C).

2. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until the onion is soft and translucent.

3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for about 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

4. While the sauce is simmering, cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

5. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a greased baking dish. Place a layer of lasagna noodles on top, followed by a layer of meat sauce and a sprinkle of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used up, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.

6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated wood-fired oven. Bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

7. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown and the lasagna is heated through.

8. Once cooked, remove the lasagna from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.

Duration to Cook - Approximately 45-50 minutes.
